WebAward for Diablo Precision, Inc. Website is 10th Award in past 6 years

When you’re a web developer, you create many different websites for many different businesses. They can vary from retail to manufacturing to professional services.

For 2014, Fremont, CA-based PlanetMagpie chose to submit only one of its clients' website projects for an award – a precision machining business in Hollister, named Diablo Precision, Inc.

Its new website, DiabloPrecision.com, won the 2014 Manufacturing Standard of Excellence WebAward.

Thousands of sites are submitted to the Web Marketing Association's judges every year, from around the world. Winners are chosen for 96 industry categories, from Application Service Provider to TV. It's one of the Web's longest-standing and highly-prized recognitions for online marketing achievement.

Doreyne Douglas, head of the firm's Web Development division, chooses which sites are submitted for awards. So why submit only one this year?

"This site was unique among our recent website projects. We chose to submit it for two reasons. One was that Diablo operates in a very competitive industry – parts manufacturing & precision machining – with overseas factories constantly trying to push prices down. Diablo Precision is made in America, and not only keeps growing year after year, but they continually improve product quality too. We did everything we could to help them out: new branding and new content to make them really stand out from competitors.

"The other reason was the design visual. I think we really captured the essence of Diablo’s operations both from a high-quality precision standpoint, and by incorporating colors and textures of the raw materials they use for their parts. We added a visual tour of the facility so visitors could see the pride Diablo takes in their facility and the scope of their operations."

The visual tour lets customers, partners and everyone else "walk" around Diablo’s machining systems. Over 200 full-screen high-quality images showcase the manufacturing process from raw material to polished product.
