"The Argument for ReShoring IT" Report — What Every American Company Who Offshores Needs to Consider

PlanetMagpie IT Consulting has published a research report in their WOOF! newsletter, highlighting the mounting risks of sending IT-related work offshore and a growing domestic alternative.

The report is titled "The Argument for ReShoring IT" and it asks the question - is offshoring worth the risk?

Judging from the multiple sources cited, from a Senator's research study to IT industry journals...the answer seems to be "No."

The research suggests that not only has offshore outsourcing lost the cost savings which made it so appealing in the late 90s/early 2000s, but it now presents a danger to the US economy and national security.

In its place, the report points to ReShoring - the act of returning IT jobs to American workers. With the economic downturn, this activity has already benefited some firms. In labor productivity, security AND cost.
